Millenium Ecosystem Assessment The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) was called for by the United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2000. Initiated in 2001, the objective of the MA was to assess the consequences of ecosystem change for human well-being and the scientific basis for action needed to enhance the conservation and sustainable use of those systems and their contribution to human well-being. The MA has involved the work of more than 1,360 experts worldwide. Their findings, contained in five technical volumes and six synthesis reports, provide a state-of-the-art scientific appraisal of the condition and trends in the world’s ecosystems and the services they provide (such as clean water, food, forest products, flood control, and natural resources) and the options to restore, conserve or enhance the sustainable use of ecosystems. http://www.millenniumassessment.org/

Happy Planet Index The Happy Planet Index (HPI) is an innovative new measure that shows the ecological efficiency with which human well-being is delivered. It is the first ever index to combine environmental impact with human well-being to measure the environmental efficiency whereby, country by country, people live long and happy lives. http://www.happyplanetindex.org/
Ecological Footprint The environmental economist Mathis Wackernagel developed the concept of an "ecological foot print”. The ecological footprint measures how much land and water a population needs, in order to be able to satisfy its consumption needs. Included are such items as the production of clothes and food, the resources consumed and the absorption of waste under prevailing technology. Today, humanity's Ecological Footprint is over 23% larger than what the planet can regenerate. In other words, it now takes more than one year and two months for the Earth to regenerate what we use in a single year.
Mathis Wackernagel, freshly elected honorary doctor of the University of Berne, in discussion with Christian Heuss. Transmission „Kontext“ from 21.12.2007, Radio DRS1 (Link coming soon) http://www.footprintnetwork.org/

«Money is more than just a performance-oriented means of investment. Used in the right way, it can help to shape the future in the way the investor has in mind. I want to work with Forma Futura to encourage these decisions.» Beatrice Zwicky
